Hi there! I've been terrible with updating this blog. I'm not sure why.
If you'd like to check out a page that I update more frequently, check out my facebook page. www.facebook.com/katiecanfieldphotography
Here's a photo for the road. Literally.
Has anyone heard that the amount of brown vs. the amount of black on a wooly bear caterpillar is indicative of how long/harsh winter is going to be?

Introducing... The Bartelts!
I was fortunate enough to photograph another wedding for another very special couple. The weather was perfect, the couple was excited, and the setting was a dream. Here's a few photos of the day that I just had to share.

Senior Photos.....Remember yours?
My cousin needed a photo for the yearbook. I hope one of these works.....

He loves playing the guitar, electric and acoustic.
This last one is most like him. He's super fun to be around and extremely easy to photograph!
Hopefully some day he will pull these out and think of everything he's done and everywhere he's gone since now. The best part about one thing ending is that another is beginning!

This coming weekend I get the opportunity to take one of my cousins senior photos! I'm very excited to see what shots we'll get and where we will end up! The sky is the limit, as is life after high school! Hopefully by next week I'll have some edited and ready for a sneak peek!

Wes is already 2 months old!

My first baby, and consequently my first baby photo shoot.
It's official. I'm a mom. And I'm happier than I've ever been. Today I took some time and photographed my son, Wesley. He was super patient with me and he even made a few faces at the camera. :) He's a month old already and this is the first time I've photographed him with any camera besides the one on my phone. I think they turned out rather well!
He really is my favorite person in the whole world. Although he's already growing like a weed! Pretty soon he'll be learning his ABC's, tying his shoes, and graduating from college.

The future Mr. & Mrs. Bartelt
This winter I had the pleasure of photographing my cousin Chris and his beautiful fiance Stephanie for their engagement photos. They braved the cold and we had a blast taking some photos at some secret family places. I think they turned out great! Later this summer I will also have the pleasure of photographing them tying the knot!

My sister's wedding.
I photographed my sisters wedding this past weekend. It was a beautiful day for the
beautiful couple. I'm really excited about the photos I took and would
love to share them all with you, however, after about the 400th one
you'd probably be drooling on your computer you'd be so bored. To save
you (and your computer) some pain, I'll just post a few. If you'd like
to see more I can send you a link to my facebook portfolio. Thanks for
checking them out!

The Lower Michigan Post
This past weekend my husband and I had to go to Lower Michigan. It's a fun trip, and I love road trips with him, so the drive went by quickly. But the place we had to go to is just about directly half way if we were to drive around Lake Michigan. We live in Milwaukee and if we were to drive the southern route and go through Chicago, it'd take us about 20 minutes less than if we went the northern route through the U.P.
While we were there I feel like I had my camera strapped to me the entire time. There were lots of neat photos just waiting to be taken....and here's a few of what I happened to shoot.....
Once again, these photos are completely unedited and taken with my Nikon D7000 and a Nikkor 18-105mm lens.

The blossoms were gorgeous!

The bees were just sitting quietly on the blossoms and enjoying themselves. I somehow feel this is a male bee, sitting on his recliner. Comfy, yes. Food, yes. Have to fly around, nope.

The morel mushrooms were towards the end of their season, but a few were still out. Cody found the only one of our hunting party.

The one with the railroad.
As I left my parents house last weekend, the sun was just starting to rise. After about a half hour on the road I came to a crossing of railroad tracks and the sun looked perfect shining on them, and on the melted and re-frozen snow. This photo is unedited and au natural. I'm thinking of turning the sky purple just for fun. What would you do to this photo? Serious edits, fun ones, maybe photoshopping a starfish in there just for kicks?

The one with a face off
This morning there were 67 turkeys that trotted and strutted out of the woods. The toms were fun to watch.... And there was a buck that was out trying to get some of the leftover corn when the turkeys decided to go for a second helping. It was an all out face off between a whitetail and about 35 turkeys.

It worked out well for a couple of minutes before the deer decided that was enough and went back up the hill and disappeared in the woods.

At one point there were 4 toms out in the yard, 2 of which strutted together for quite a while before running after a couple of hens down by the lake. Aren't they pretty? And I haven't even had a chance to edit these photos yet.
